Psychic Miasma card art
Psychic Miasma makes an opponent discard a card and return a land to their hand — two disruptions stapled to two mana — but the land bounce hits you if they have no cards to discard. Outside of The Gitrog Monster builds that weaponize land drops as a resource, this is a worse Thoughtseize with a downside rider that rarely comes up in your favor.

In Commander, Psychic Miasma is too low-impact at a one-for-one rate to justify a slot in most 100-card decks — discard spells need to be exceptional to pull weight at a four-player table, and this one isn't. Pauper is its most credible home, where the common card pool makes two-mana discard-plus-disruption more meaningful and budget constraints matter. Legacy and Vintage have access to strictly better discard at every price point, so Psychic Miasma doesn't register there. The conditional land bounce is situationally punishing in creature-light builds, but you can't count on opponents having empty hands to trigger it.

Price Context

Current price

$0.12 bulk tier

At $0.12, Psychic Miasma is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not scarcity. There's no meaningful price floor to speak of, and niche demand from Pauper and The Gitrog Monster brewing keeps it from being completely worthless, but don't expect that to change.
