Prismatic Geoscope card art
Prismatic Geoscope taps for up to five mana — one per basic land type you control — which in a five-color deck means it routinely produces more mana than Gilded Lotus at the same converted cost. The ceiling is high enough that Filigree Sages, which untaps it for two blue, turns it into a near-infinite mana engine on its own.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

FormatVerdict
commander

modern
pioneer
standard
vintage
pauper
oathbreaker

Commander is the only format where Prismatic Geoscope earns its slot, and specifically in five-color or four-color builds where hitting all five basic land types is realistic by mid-game. In those shells it competes with Gilded Lotus on raw mana output and wins the comparison most turns. Legacy and Vintage are both legal on paper, but neither format has any interest in a five-mana mana rock that requires setup — fast mana exists on a different axis there. Oathbreaker is legal as well, though the smaller game size makes the land-type dependency harder to satisfy consistently.

Price Context

Current price

$1.15 cheap tier

At $1.15, Prismatic Geoscope sits in the range where it costs less than the sleeves protecting it. The price reflects low demand outside dedicated five-color builds rather than any weakness in the card itself — if you're in the right deck, it's one of the most undercosted mana rocks available at this tier.
