Power Plant Worker puts a 3/3 assembler on the board that grows into a 4/4 or larger the moment you control other Contraptions or artifact creatures — and it assembles a Contraption when it enters, so it's already feeding its own bonus. The cost is real: this is a three-mana 3/3 in formats with much stronger options, and outside dedicated Contraption themes it plays worse than Prize Pig.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Power Plant Worker is a fringe card in every format it's legal in, and Commander is its best home purely by default — the 100-card singleton environment is the only place Contraption synergies have enough room to breathe. In Pauper it competes at common with efficient two-drops that don't need tribal scaffolding to be threatening. Modern, Pioneer, Legacy, and Vintage don't have competitive Contraption strategies, so Power Plant Worker sits unplayed across all four. Oathbreaker mirrors Commander closely enough that the same logic applies: if you're building around Contraptions, it belongs; otherwise it doesn't.

Current price
$0.21 bulk tier
At $0.21, Power Plant Worker is deep bulk — the kind of card you pick up as an afterthought when ordering a Contraption package. Don't expect the price to move; it has no crossover appeal outside its niche and no reprint pressure in either direction.
