Pact of the Titan card art
Pact of the Titan puts a 4/4 Giant token into play for free on your turn — the cost is four red mana on your next upkeep or you lose the game. Outside of combo shells like Djinn Illuminatus that can copy the Pact before the trigger resolves, this is a trap: a 4/4 that costs you the game if anything disrupts your mana.

Pact of the Titan is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, and sees meaningful play in exactly one context: combo. In Commander, it functions as a free spell that triggers prowess, storm counts, or copy effects — not as a creature spell. In Legacy and Vintage it sees fringe play in Storm and Pact combo shells where the upkeep trigger is never meant to resolve. Modern has largely moved past it, but dedicated Pact combo decks still use it as a free spell to reach critical mass. Anywhere you're actually paying four red mana on upkeep, the card has failed you.

Price Context

Current price

$0.29 bulk tier

At $0.29, Pact of the Titan is bulk — priced correctly for a card with narrow combo applications and almost no rate as a standalone spell. It won't climb without a new combo shell that specifically needs free red spells, so pick it up if the deck calls for it and don't think twice about the cost.
