Odric, Lunarch Marshal

Legendary Creature — Human Soldier

At the beginning of each combat, creatures you control gain first strike until end of turn if a creature you control has first strike. The same is true for flying, deathtouch, double strike, haste, hexproof, indestructible, lifelink, menace, reach, skulk, trample, and vigilance.

Odric, Lunarch Marshal card art
Odric, Lunarch Marshal hands every creature you control whatever keywords your best creature is wearing — first strike, lifelink, flying, trample, all of it, distributed across the board at the start of each combat. The catch is a four-mana legendary body that does nothing the turn it enters and folds to removal before it untaps, so you're always one Doom Blade away from a vanilla army. Think of it less like Sonic the Hedgehog blazing ahead alone and more like Kathril, Aspect Warper's philosophy applied at instant-table scale: stack keywords on one creature, then watch the whole team inherit the suite.

Format Analysis

FormatVerdict
commander

vintage

oathbreaker

Commander is where Odric, Lunarch Marshal actually earns its slot — multiplayer boards run wide naturally, so distributing keywords across six or eight creatures at once generates far more value than in any one-on-one format. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it's legal but essentially absent: four mana for a 3/4 with a delayed trigger is far too slow and too reliant on board state to compete with those formats' threats and interaction density. Vintage has the same problem compounded by the sheer speed of the format. Oathbreaker is the one other format where it's worth a second look, since the lower life totals push combat relevance and the smaller card pool makes keyword-heavy creatures easier to sequence.

Price Context

Current price

$0.53 bulk tier

At $0.53, Odric, Lunarch Marshal is bulk — a four-mana legendary with a splashy effect that sees enough casual Commander play to stay in print and stay cheap. The price is stable at this floor and unlikely to move unless a high-profile reprint or a new keyword-stacking commander spikes demand.
