Ob Nixilis, the Hate-Twisted turns every opponent's card draw into a two-damage punch, and pairing it with Peer into the Abyss ends the game on the spot — one spell deals lethal to a single player while the rest of the table bleeds out. Five mana for a 3/3 with no evasion is the real cost, but the symmetry-breaking damage trigger makes it a staple alongside Sheoldred, the Apocalypse in any deck that wants opponents dead for doing what they'd do anyway.

Commanders with the highest synergy

Sheoldred, the Apocalypse
Sheoldred, the Apocalypse already punishes opponents for drawing; Ob Nixilis, the Hate-Twisted stacks a second damage trigger on top, turning every Brainstorm or Phyrexian Arena activation across the table into a life-total crisis.

Winter, Misanthropic Guide
Winter, Misanthropic Guide forces opponents to draw cards on a schedule, and Ob Nixilis, the Hate-Twisted converts every mandatory draw into direct damage — the two permanents together create a clock that runs itself.

Nekusar, the Mindrazer
Nekusar, the Mindrazer already deals damage whenever opponents draw, and Ob Nixilis, the Hate-Twisted doubles the punishment on every extra draw spell, turning wheel effects into near-lethal burst damage for the whole table.

Commander is where Ob Nixilis, the Hate-Twisted earns its slot — three opponents drawing cards each turn means the damage adds up faster than it ever could in a one-on-one game, and the combo ceiling with Peer into the Abyss is a legitimate instant-win line. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it's legal but sees essentially no play; five mana for a creature that doesn't affect the board immediately is too slow against the interaction density of those formats. Oathbreaker gives it another viable home in the same wheel-and-drain shell it thrives in for Commander, especially as a signature spell target for black Planeswalker commanders.
