Necrosynthesis turns every creature death into a +1/+1 counter accumulator, then cashes those counters as a one-shot tutor when the creature dies. The combo ceiling is real — Basking Broodscale loops generate counters fast enough to cash repeatedly, and Massacre Girl wipes the board while stockpiling a counter-laden threat in the same breath.

Massacre Girl
Massacre Girl's -1/-1 wave kills the board and triggers Necrosynthesis on every creature that dies, meaning she exits combat with a massive counter-loaded survivor already primed to tutor the next piece of the kill.

Necrosynthesis is a Commander card through and through — the engine needs a critical mass of creature deaths to be worth the three-mana enchantment slot, and multiplayer games reliably provide that. In competitive 1v1 formats like Modern or Legacy, paying three mana for a conditional tutor that requires setup is too slow when the format has cheaper, more reliable options. Pioneer is the same story: three mana, enchantment type, and dependency on creatures dying means it won't find a home there either. Commander is where Necrosynthesis earns its keep, specifically in sacrifice-heavy or wipe-heavy builds that generate the death triggers needed to load up counters fast.

$0.44 bulk tier
At $0.44, Necrosynthesis is firmly bulk — a near-zero financial commitment for a card with genuine combo potential. Bulk enchantments with dedicated combo homes tend to stay flat or tick slightly upward over time as more players discover the Basking Broodscale lines, so picking up copies now costs essentially nothing.
