Murderous Spoils destroys a nonblack creature and hands you every Equipment it was carrying — that's a two-for-one that punishes Voltron strategies hardest, stripping a Vulshok Battlemaster or similar threat and immediately arming your own board. Six mana is the honest cost, and it's a real one — this is a late-game play, not interaction you can hold up early.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Murderous Spoils sees essentially zero play in Legacy, Modern, or Vintage, where six mana for removal is disqualifying regardless of the upside. Commander is its only realistic home, and even there it occupies a narrow role: the Equipment-theft clause goes from trinket to genuine tempo swing in games where opponents are suiting up a commander or key creature with multiple pieces of Equipment. Outside of those matchups, it's a slow Doom Blade with upside you may never cash in.

$0.07 bulk tier
At $0.07, Murderous Spoils is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not the card. That price is stable by definition; bulk rares don't move unless a format breaks them, and nothing on the horizon is breaking a six-mana sorcery.
