Mortarpod card art
Mortarpod turns any creature into a Goblin Sharpshooter strapped to a Lightning Bolt — equip it, sacrifice the bearer, deal 1 damage to any target, repeat. The setup cost is real (2 to cast, 1 to equip), but in sacrifice-happy shells like Koll, the Forgemaster the recurring ping becomes a reliable removal engine rather than a one-shot trick.

Commander is where Mortarpod earns its keep — sacrifice synergies are everywhere, and a repeatable free ping stapled to a sac outlet clears utility creatures, closes infect games, and enables infinite loops without taking up a spell slot each iteration. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but firmly outclassed; faster formats have no patience for a two-mana artifact that deals 1 damage at sorcery speed unless a very specific combo demands it. Modern is the same story — playable in theory, essentially absent in practice. Mortarpod is a Commander card wearing cross-format clothes.

Price data isn't available at the moment — check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for a current number. Given how narrowly Mortarpod is played outside Commander, copies tend to sit in bulk bins, and there's no reason to expect a premium unless a new combo deck puts it on the map.
