Momentary Blink card art
Momentary Blink bounces one of your creatures out of exile and back immediately, triggering every enter-the-battlefield ability it has — for two mana at instant speed. The flashback clause means you get a second trigger for three mana, and Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward // Candlekeep Sage turns that double-dip into a full combo engine on its own.

Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward // Candlekeep Sage

83.9% of decks · synergy 0.73

Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward // Candlekeep Sage exiles your board when it enters, so Momentary Blink re-exiles and immediately returns Abdel — along with everything he previously exiled — generating an ever-growing pile of free permanents with each cast and flashback.

02
Plagon, Lord of the Beach

Plagon, Lord of the Beach

69.3% of decks · synergy 0.58

Plagon, Lord of the Beach cares about Fish entering the battlefield, and Momentary Blink lets you double-dip on any high-value Fish ETB in the same turn, with flashback available to do it a third time across the game.

03
Niko, Light of Hope

Niko, Light of Hope

66.2% of decks · synergy 0.55

Niko, Light of Hope generates Shard tokens on creature ETBs, so Momentary Blink is effectively a two-mana draw-two — one trigger on cast, one trigger on flashback — while also protecting Niko or any key creature from removal.

04
Shiko, Paragon of the Way

Shiko, Paragon of the Way

55.5% of decks · synergy 0.54

Shiko, Paragon of the Way rewards stacking counters on creatures, and Momentary Blink resets a creature's ETB to load it back up while also serving as a reactive save against targeted removal.

05
Ranar the Ever-Watchful

Ranar the Ever-Watchful

63.3% of decks · synergy 0.52

Ranar the Ever-Watchful creates a 1/1 flier every time a card is exiled from your hand or a permanent phases out, and Momentary Blink's cast-from-exile flashback triggers Ranar twice — once per cast — while protecting a creature in the process.

Commander is where Momentary Blink does its best work: ETB-heavy decks treat the flashback as a built-in two-for-one, and the instant speed means it doubles as protection against targeted removal. In Pauper, it sees real play in flicker strategies built around commons with powerful enters-the-battlefield effects, where the low price of entry and built-in recursion make it punching above its rarity. Legacy and Vintage have access to it, but faster formats rarely need a two-mana flicker when combo lines close games earlier. Pioneer and Standard don't carry it, which mostly just means those players are missing out.
