Commander is where Miara, Thorn of the Glade actually lives — Elf tribal is one of the most popular archetypes in the format, and a two-mana legend that generates card advantage passively off deaths is exactly the kind of engine Commander rewards. As a partner commander, Miara offers flexibility: pair her with a red or white partner to extend the color identity, or run her in the 99 of any Golgari or mono-black Elf deck. Legacy and Vintage technically allow Miara, Thorn of the Glade, but competitive Elf lists in those formats move too fast to lean on a value engine that requires Elves to die; she sees essentially no play there.
