Lazotep Sliver
Creature — Zombie Sliver
Sliver creatures you control have afflict 2. (Whenever a creature with afflict 2 becomes blocked, defending player loses 2 life.)
Whenever a nontoken Sliver you control dies, amass Slivers 2. (Put two +1/+1 counters on an Army you control. It's also a Sliver. If you don't control an Army, create a 0/0 black Sliver Army creature token first.)

Lazotep Sliver gives every Sliver you control a +1/+1 counter when it enters the battlefield — that's a board-wide pump that compounds fast in a tribe built around flooding the field. The First Sliver decks run it in half their lists for exactly that reason, and at roughly $6, the cost is easy to justify.

The First Sliver
The First Sliver cascades into Lazotep Sliver, which immediately counters up every Sliver already in play — and since The First Sliver triggers cascade on each Sliver cast, the counters stack every time another piece hits the battlefield.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Lazotep Sliver is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but Commander is where it actually sees play — the 99-card singleton format lets Sliver tribal run deep enough to make a board-wide counter effect genuinely threatening. In Legacy and Vintage, dedicated Sliver builds are fringe at best, and the competition from faster, more disruptive strategies makes a five-mana anthem effect hard to justify. Oathbreaker can support it in a Sliver shell, but the smaller deck size and lower starting life total mean the game is usually over before Lazotep Sliver's counter engine has time to snowball.

Budget Alternatives
Cheaper options that do most of the same work
Sliver Hive and Coat of Arms both pump the team at a lower price point, though neither distributes +1/+1 counters permanently the way Lazotep Sliver does — counters stick even if the enchantment or artifact gets removed. If the appeal is specifically the counter distribution, Crystalline Sliver or Diffusion Sliver protect the board instead, which accomplishes a similar goal of making your Slivers harder to answer without the $6 price tag.
Price Context
Current price
$6.49 mid tier
At $6.49, Lazotep Sliver sits in the mid tier — not a casual pickup, but not a budget-breaker for a dedicated Sliver build either. It sees enough Commander play to hold that price, and nothing about its demand profile suggests it's going anywhere.
