Last Laugh turns every creature death into a damage pulse that chains into more deaths — in the right shell, one removal spell or a single Polyraptor loop collapses the whole board before anyone can respond. The cost is symmetry: it kills your stuff too, so you need a deck built to exploit that trigger, not just survive it. Indoraptor, the Perfect Hybrid is the current consensus home because it weaponizes that recursive damage rather than suffering it.

Indoraptor, the Perfect Hybrid
Indoraptor, the Perfect Hybrid's enrage triggers fire every time Last Laugh pings it, turning the enchantment's symmetrical pulses into a one-sided engine — each creature that dies deals damage to Indoraptor, which then deals damage back, which kills more creatures, which keeps the loop going.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Last Laugh is a Commander card through and through — the 100-card singleton format is the only place where enough creatures reliably hit the board to make the chain lethal, and political tablewide damage is a feature rather than a bug. Legacy and Vintage have it legal but it sees no meaningful play there; the formats are too fast and too low-to-the-ground for a five-mana enchantment that requires creatures to die in sequence. Oathbreaker is the one non-Commander format where Last Laugh could theoretically matter, but the smaller deck size and faster games make it a fringe consideration at best. Stick to Commander.

Current price
$2.44 cheap tier
At $2.44, Last Laugh sits in the cheap tier — a low buy-in for an enchantment that can close games outright. It's a narrow card with a specific home, so demand stays modest and the price is unlikely to spike unless a new Indoraptor-style commander pushes it into mass adoption.
