Knowledge Is Power turns a stacked hand into a pump effect — creatures you control get +1/+0 for each card in your hand until end of turn, which in the right shell converts draw-heavy turns into lethal swings. Five mana is a real ask, but Morska, Undersea Sleuth decks routinely hit eight or more cards in hand before combat, making this a one-card alpha strike.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Morska, Undersea Sleuth
Morska, Undersea Sleuth's clue-generating, card-drawing engine routinely stockpiles the large hands that make Knowledge Is Power devastating — 40% of Morska decks run it, the highest inclusion rate of any commander, and it's easy to see why when a single attack step can close games.

Elenda and Azor
Elenda and Azor draw cards whenever you cast spells, so a mid-to-late game hand is almost always full — Knowledge Is Power converts that accumulated card advantage directly into a lethal combat step in a way few enchantments can at the same price point.

Raffine, Scheming Seer
Raffine, Scheming Seer connives on attack, which builds card selection and hand size simultaneously; Knowledge Is Power rewards that behavior by making each subsequent attack hit harder, creating a compounding loop where drawing more cards also means more damage.

The Council of Four
The Council of Four triggers card draw every time an opponent plays a spell, so by the midgame your hand is padded without spending your own resources — Knowledge Is Power cashes in that passive advantage as a combat finisher.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Knowledge Is Power is a Commander card through and through — it demands a critical mass of card draw to be meaningful, and 100-card singleton decks with dedicated draw engines are where that condition is easiest to meet consistently. Legacy and Vintage legality is technically there, but the effect is too slow and too dependent on a board state to compete in those formats. Oathbreaker is the only other realistic home, and only in spellslinger or draw-heavy builds where hand size routinely climbs above five. Outside of Commander, treat the other format legalities as irrelevant.

$0.49 bulk tier
At $0.49, Knowledge Is Power sits firmly in bulk territory — the kind of card you pick up without thinking when building a draw-heavy Commander deck. Bulk enchantments with narrow homes don't typically appreciate, so treat this as a cheap role-player, not a spec.
