Kindred Discovery is one of the best tribal draw engines ever printed — name a creature type, then draw a card every time you cast or attack with one of them. Five mana is a real ask, but any deck running Hakbal of the Surging Soul or Cryptcaller Chariot that can't find room for this is leaving a card-advantage engine on the table.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Hakbal of the Surging Soul
Hakbal of the Surging Soul builds around Merfolk entering the battlefield and swinging wide, so Kindred Discovery triggers off both cast and attack — every Merfolk you deploy or send into combat becomes a free draw, turning the usual tribal go-wide plan into a full engine.

Alela, Cunning Conqueror
Alela, Cunning Conqueror generates Faerie tokens whenever opponents cast spells on your turn, and Kindred Discovery set to Faeries converts each of those free tokens into a free card the moment they attack.

Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir
Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir incentivizes Knight tribal combat, and Kindred Discovery naming Knights means every attack step draws a card for each Knight connecting — giving a go-wide combat deck the sustained card advantage it normally lacks.

Temmet, Naktamun's Will
Temmet, Naktamun's Will runs heavy on tokens and Zombies swinging for the face, and Kindred Discovery set to either type keeps the hand full through every attack, which is exactly the fuel a wide token-attack deck burns through quickly.

Kastral, the Windcrested
Kastral, the Windcrested is a Bird commander that rewards creatures entering the battlefield and attacking, so Kindred Discovery naming Birds doubles up with almost every play the deck makes — cast a Bird, draw; attack with it, draw again.

Kindred Discovery is a Commander card in every meaningful sense — tribal synergy, high mana cost, and a symmetry-agnostic trigger structure that only shines when you control ten-plus creatures of a type across a long game. Legacy and Vintage permit it, but five mana sorcery-speed enchantments with narrow tribal conditions don't compete in those formats. Oathbreaker is the one non-Commander 60-card-adjacent format where it could see fringe play, strictly in a dedicated tribal shell. Everywhere else, this card doesn't exist.
