Inviolability card art
Inviolability makes the enchanted creature effectively unkillable in combat by granting protection from creatures, and when paired with Pariah, it redirects all damage dealt to you onto that same indestructible shield — a lock that wins games. The two-mana equip cost is trivial for what amounts to a permanent fog on legs.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

FormatVerdict
commander
legacy
modern
pioneer
standard
vintage
pauper
oathbreaker

Inviolability sees essentially zero play in Legacy and Vintage, where creature-based strategies fold to faster, more brutal disruption before a two-mana aura does anything relevant. Pauper is the outlier — at common, Inviolability occasionally shows up in Aura-based white aggro as a cheap way to protect a key attacker — but it's fringe there too. Commander is where it genuinely earns a slot: the multiplayer threat density, longer games, and prevalence of combat make protection from creatures a meaningful deterrent, and the Pariah combo that requires Inviolability is only viable in a format where you have turns to set it up.

Price Context

Current price

$0.20 bulk tier

At $0.20, Inviolability is deep bulk — buy a playset without thinking twice. Given that it's a narrow aura with real combo applications only in Commander, don't expect the price to move unless the Pariah package breaks into a high-profile deck list.
