Implode destroys one land — no targeting restrictions, no conditions — for four mana at sorcery speed. It's narrow, expensive for what it does, and rarely the right include when Beast Within and Generous Gift answer any permanent for less.

In Commander, Implode competes in a slot where you need answers to multiple permanent types, and a four-mana sorcery that only hits lands almost never clears that bar — Strip Mine effects aside, land destruction at this price point is too slow and too politically costly to be worth a deck slot. Legacy and Vintage are the only non-rotating formats where Implode is legal, and neither has any reason to run it when Wasteland and Strip Mine exist and cost nothing in terms of card slots. Oathbreaker shares Commander's pace and the same calculus applies.

Price Context
Current price
$0.12 bulk tier
At $0.12, Implode is bulk — you're not paying for power, you're paying for cardboard. Don't expect that to change; narrow land destruction at sorcery speed has no competitive home to drive demand.
