Gatherer of Graces card art
Gatherer of Graces is a 2/3 for two mana that grows whenever an Aura attached to it dies — in any dedicated Aura shell, that's a recursive stat engine that punishes your opponents for removing enchanted creatures. Mazzy, Truesword Paladin makes that trigger automatic, bouncing Auras back to hand every time a creature dies so Gatherer of Graces keeps getting bigger through your own combat.

Mazzy, Truesword Paladin

20.2% of decks · synergy 0.20

Mazzy, Truesword Paladin recycles Auras from the graveyard straight to hand, which means every combat trade or removal spell that kills your enchanted creature feeds Gatherer of Graces a +1/+1 counter before the Aura even hits the bin — the two cards form a self-reinforcing loop that makes Gatherer of Graces one of the most natural includes in any Mazzy build.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

FormatVerdict
commander

pioneer
standard
vintage

oathbreaker

Gatherer of Graces sees essentially zero competitive play in Legacy, Modern, or Vintage — the effect is too narrow and too slow for those formats, where Aura synergies that do see play lean on Bogles-style hexproof shells that have no interest in a trigger that only fires on Aura death. Commander is where it actually lives: creature-based Aura commanders generate enough incidental Aura churn to make Gatherer of Graces a legitimate threat, and a 2/3 that scales upward over a long game is exactly the kind of card multiplayer rewards. Outside of a dedicated Aura Commander deck, there's no strong case for running it.

Price Context

Current price

$0.15 bulk tier

At $0.15, Gatherer of Graces is pure bulk — you're paying almost nothing for a card that does real work in the right shell. Bulk rares and uncommons at this price point don't move much regardless of demand, so there's no reason to hesitate on picking up copies.
