Flickerwisp card art
Flickerwisp enters, exiles any permanent until end of turn, and swings as a 3/1 flier — all for three mana at instant speed when blinked. Commanders like Ranar the Ever-Watchful and Preston, the Vanisher treat that exile trigger as a repeatable engine, not a one-off trick.

Commanders with the highest synergy

02
Preston, the Vanisher

Preston, the Vanisher

63.0% of decks · synergy 0.57

Flickerwisp exiling a nontoken creature triggers Preston, the Vanisher to create a 0/1 Horse token, so each flicker loop generates free board presence while also disrupting an opponent's permanent.

03
Phelia, Exuberant Shepherd

Phelia, Exuberant Shepherd

59.2% of decks · synergy 0.53

Phelia, Exuberant Shepherd blinks creatures at will, and Flickerwisp is one of the better targets — it resets its own exile trigger on re-entry, letting Phelia convert extra mana into repeated removal or tempo hits.

04
Yorion, Sky Nomad

Yorion, Sky Nomad

59.4% of decks · synergy 0.53

Yorion, Sky Nomad's enter-the-battlefield trigger blinks the whole board, and Flickerwisp fills the gap between Yorion activations by spot-exiling anything that needs answering right now.

In Commander, Flickerwisp earns its slot in any blink or ETB deck that wants a flying body with built-in interaction — the exile effect hits any permanent, including lands and tokens, which is broader than most three-mana removal spells. In Legacy, it sees occasional play in Death and Taxes builds, where it can reset Aether Vial, exile an opponent's land during their upkeep to deny a mana step, or flicker your own Stoneforge Mystic. Modern has largely moved past it as that format's Death and Taxes shells shifted toward more aggressive pieces, but it remains legal and functional in fringe builds. Vintage and Oathbreaker are legal but Flickerwisp is too fair for Vintage's power level to matter there.

Price Context

Current price

$0.35 bulk tier

At $0.35, Flickerwisp sits firmly in bulk territory despite appearing in nearly 70% of Ranar the Ever-Watchful decks. Supply from multiple printings keeps the price flat, so there's no scarcity argument — it's just cheap and playable, which is the best kind of inclusion.
