Farseek is a two-mana land ramp spell that puts a tapped Plains, Island, Swamp, or Mountain directly into play — it's one of the most-played cards in Commander for exactly that reason. The one real trade-off: it can't fetch a basic Forest, so mono-green or Forest-heavy builds gain less from it than multicolor decks do, which is why you'll see it in every Aloy, Savior of Meridian list but almost never in a Yeva, Nature's Herald pile.
Where It Shines
Where the extra mana on turn one matters most
Big-mana shells like The Ur-Dragon
Five-color dragons need to hit every color reliably, and Farseek does real work fetching whichever basic Mountain, Island, Plains, or Swamp The Ur-Dragon's cost demands — one spell, one problem solved, no fixing required for the rest of the game.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Farseek earns its reputation — in a format defined by four-plus color decks and commanders that cost six or seven mana, consistent two-mana ramp that fixes colors is worth a slot in almost every non-mono-green build. In Pauper it sees occasional play in landfall and ramp strategies where common-legal fixing is scarce. Legacy, Vintage, and Modern all have access to it, but the formats move too fast for a tapped-land ramp spell to matter — nobody's jamming Farseek in a Legacy Delver list. Pioneer and Standard cut it off entirely, so if you're building in either format, look elsewhere.

Price Context
Current price
$1.21 cheap tier
At $1.21, Farseek sits in the cheap tier — it's one of those cards you pick up without thinking about it and never regret. Heavy reprint history keeps the price anchored low, so don't expect it to spike and don't let the rare printings fool you into overpaying.
