Disenchant card art
Disenchant answers any artifact or enchantment on the spot for two mana at instant speed — clean, unconditional, and available in every white deck. Outside of commanders like Zethi, Arcane Blademaster that can recur instants repeatedly, it's a solid role-player rather than a centerpiece, but the effect is always relevant.

Best Commanders

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Zethi, Arcane Blademaster

Zethi, Arcane Blademaster

47.9% of decks · synergy 0.40

Zethi, Arcane Blademaster copies instants attached to it every combat, so Disenchant stops being a one-shot answer and becomes a repeatable hate piece that can demolish an artifact or enchantment every turn.

02
Kangee, Sky Warden

Kangee, Sky Warden

43.9% of decks · synergy 0.36

Kangee, Sky Warden runs a lean, interaction-heavy suite to protect the board and keep the skies clear, and Disenchant slots in as cheap, instant-speed insurance against the equipment and enchantments that would otherwise ground the bird tribe.

03
Wyleth, Soul of Steel

Wyleth, Soul of Steel

33.7% of decks · synergy 0.28

Wyleth, Soul of Steel lives and dies by stacking equipment onto a single creature, making opposing removal enchantments and pesky artifacts existential threats — Disenchant answers both categories before they can disrupt the swing.

04
Odric, Lunarch Marshal

Odric, Lunarch Marshal

35.6% of decks · synergy 0.19

Odric, Lunarch Marshal needs combat to go unimpeded, and Disenchant clears the enchantments and artifacts that would slow or lock down the board before the keyword-sharing engine can fire.

05
Errant and Giada

Errant and Giada

22.1% of decks · synergy 0.14

Errant and Giada pushes into the red zone with flying threats, and Disenchant handles the pillowfort enchantments and taxing artifacts that would otherwise stall that plan entirely.

In Commander, Disenchant is a reliable include in any white deck that doesn't have access to strictly better options — the instant speed matters when you need to crack a combo piece in response, and the two-mana cost is low enough to hold up alongside other interaction. In competitive 60-card formats like Modern and Legacy, Disenchant has been almost entirely displaced by cards that either cost less, hit more target types, or replace themselves — you'll find it in sideboards only when the meta specifically demands a cleanly unconditional instant. Pauper is its best non-Commander home, where the cardpool is shallow enough that its simplicity becomes a virtue rather than a liability. In Pioneer and Standard, similar two-mana options with upside typically edge it out, but Disenchant remains legal and playable when nothing better is available.

Budget Alternatives

Cheaper options that do most of the same work

Disenchant's effect is widely available at lower price points: Demystify handles enchantments only for one mana, and Revoke Existence hits artifacts and enchantments like Disenchant does but costs the same and exiles rather than destroys — a direct upgrade in most cases. If you want the versatility of hitting both permanent types at instant speed on a tight budget, Shenanigans or By Invitation Only won't fit the bill, but a card like Heliod's Intervention scales up and hits multiple targets, making it a strong swap in ramp-heavy metas.

Price Context

Current price

$12.93 mid tier

At $12.93, Disenchant sits in an awkward spot for what is functionally a bulk-effect card — the price is driven almost entirely by collector interest in specific printings rather than competitive demand. For anyone building a functional deck, there are identical or superior alternatives available for a fraction of that cost, and this is not a card where the premium version is worth chasing.
