Decommission destroys an artifact or enchantment and gains you 3 life — two effects stapled onto a single two-mana common. It's functional removal, but sorcery speed keeps it off the premier tier in any format where instant-speed options exist at the same cost.

In Commander, Decommission fills the role of budget artifact and enchantment removal for white decks that need to round out their interaction suite without spending real money. The 3 life is largely irrelevant at a 40-life table, so you're paying two mana at sorcery speed for a plain destroy effect — which is acceptable but not competitive when Disenchant and Wear // Tear exist. In Pauper, the common legality matters more, and the life gain occasionally closes a percentage point against aggressive decks. Decommission is a role-player in lower-power pods and budget builds; anywhere removal is contested, it gets outclassed.

Price Context
Current price
$0.08 bulk tier
At $0.08, Decommission is deep bulk — you'll find copies in any common bin or draft chaff pile without looking hard. The price reflects its power level accurately, and there's no meaningful upside to acquiring multiples beyond filling out budget Commander decks.
