Deadly Rollick card art
Deadly Rollick exiles a creature for free — no mana, no conditions beyond having your commander on the battlefield — and that unconditional zero-cost removal is the whole story. Commanders like Orvar, the All-Form that want every mana available on their turn love it, and Deadpool, Trading Card runs it at an 85% clip for the same reason.

Deadpool, Trading Card

Deadpool, Trading Card

Deadpool, Trading Card wants to be in the zone doing damage, not spending mana on answers, and Deadly Rollick lets him keep every resource pointed at the offense while still clearing blockers or problem creatures for free.

Format Analysis

FormatVerdict

Commander is where Deadly Rollick earns its keep — commanders are in the zone the vast majority of games, so the free-cast condition is almost never a liability, and exiling rather than destroying matters constantly against indestructible creatures and graveyard recursion. In Legacy and Vintage, the bar for zero-mana removal is Force of Will territory, and Deadly Rollick doesn't clear it: the commander dependency makes it unplayable in those formats outside niche commander-legal Vintage cubes. Oathbreaker mirrors the Commander dynamic closely enough that Deadly Rollick is a direct include whenever black is available. Modern, Pioneer, Standard, and Pauper don't touch it.

Budget Alternatives

Cheaper options that do most of the same work

If $30 is too steep, Terminate and Swords to Plowshares both cost under $2 and handle nearly every target Deadly Rollick would — you just pay two mana instead of zero, which matters most in the combo-heavy shells where the free cost is actually the point. Go for the Throat is another sub-$1 option that exiles in some printings and covers artifact creatures, though it misses the artifact-creature clause on older versions and can't touch them at all.

Price Context

Current price

$29.64 premium tier

At $29.64, Deadly Rollick sits firmly in premium removal territory — comparable to Fierce Guardianship and Deflecting Swat from the same cycle, which have held similar price floors because the free-cast cycle sees near-universal demand in competitive Commander. It's a stable card rather than a speculative one: as long as Commander remains the dominant format, the demand floor doesn't move much.
