Curse of Verbosity sticks to an opponent and draws you a card every time that player gets attacked — a persistent, low-cost card-advantage engine that rewards the table for doing what it already wants to do. At three mana in blue, it's a staple in Lynde, Cheerful Tormentor builds and a solid inclusion anywhere you want repeatable draw without spending resources each turn.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Lynde, Cheerful Tormentor
Lynde, Cheerful Tormentor wants every Curse she can find, and Curse of Verbosity pulls double duty — it draws cards while feeding Lynde's ability to steal and redistribute curses for political and board-state advantage. The 94% inclusion rate in Lynde lists is the ceiling; this is as close to an auto-include as the card gets.

Firkraag, Cunning Instigator
Firkraag, Cunning Instigator manufactures attacks on opponents by goading their creatures, which means the enchanted player is getting hit constantly — turning Curse of Verbosity into a reliable draw engine that syncs directly with what Firkraag is already doing.

Red Death, Shipwrecker
Red Death, Shipwrecker's pirate-tribal gameplan forces opponents to attack each other, and Curse of Verbosity converts those mandatory swings into card draw, letting Red Death decks refill while the table bleeds out.

Jon Irenicus, Shattered One
Jon Irenicus, Shattered One donates creatures to opponents and then benefits when those opponents get attacked — Curse of Verbosity layers card draw on top of that dynamic, rewarding you every time the player holding your gifted creature takes a hit.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Curse of Verbosity is a Commander card through and through — the multiplayer environment means the cursed player will reliably get attacked multiple times per game, turning a single enchantment into four, five, or six cards over a full game. In Legacy and Vintage, where it's technically legal, it's far too slow and passive to compete; no one's casting a three-mana do-nothing enchantment in those formats. Oathbreaker is the one other format where it has a real home, particularly in spell-slinger or political builds that can afford a turn-three setup piece.

Price Context
Current price
$0.59 bulk tier
At $0.59, Curse of Verbosity is deep bulk — you're picking this out of a dollar bin or buying a playset for the price of a coffee. The card is a staple in its archetype, so don't expect the price to drop further; a reprint would keep it flat, but demand from Lynde lists alone gives it a floor.
