Cornered Market shuts down any permanent type once a copy is already in play — opponents can't cast or play a land that shares a name with something on the battlefield, which becomes a hard lock when paired with Spy Kit equipping a creature with every non-legendary creature name simultaneously. That interaction aside, the card is narrow enough that it earns a slot only in dedicated prison or stax builds.
Format Analysis

Cornered Market is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but it only matters in Commander, where the 100-card singleton structure means Spy Kit creates a near-total lock on creature spells the moment a Kit-equipped creature hits the board. In Legacy and Vintage, the card sees essentially no play — faster, more consistent lock pieces exist, and the setup required for Cornered Market's best application is too clunky against those fields. In Commander it lives in stax and prison shells that can reliably assemble the combo and protect it long enough to matter.

$0.61 bulk tier
At $0.61, Cornered Market is deep bulk — you're paying for the effect, not scarcity. The price is stable at this level because demand is narrow and supply is not; pick one up without hesitation if the deck calls for it, but don't expect it to appreciate.
