Copperline Gorge enters untapped on turns one and two — the turns that actually decide whether your early game fires — and costs you nothing beyond having two or more lands in hand, which any functional opener already guarantees. It's the cleanest Gruul dual you're not running if you're on Bello, Bard of the Brambles, and at bulk price there's no credible argument against it.

Commanders with the highest synergy

Bello, Bard of the Brambles
Bello, Bard of the Brambles wants as many untapped Gruul sources as possible to start making Forests and Mountains matter on turn one, and Copperline Gorge is exactly that — a no-downside dual in the early turns when Bello's enchantment and land synergies are coming online.

Radha, Heir to Keld
Radha, Heir to Keld rewards aggressive opening hands with mana to spare, and Copperline Gorge delivers an untapped red or green source in the exact window — turns one and two — where Radha wants to be swinging and generating bonus mana immediately.

In Commander, Copperline Gorge earns a slot in every Gruul or Temur deck that doesn't have a specific reason to run basic lands — the untapped condition is trivially satisfied in the first two turns, and that's when the tempo matters most. In Modern, it competes in a crowded field of Gruul duals including Stomping Ground and Raging Ravine, but it sees play in decks that want redundancy and can't always afford the shock damage. Pioneer has fewer options, so Copperline Gorge sits higher in the pecking order there, particularly in ramp and midrange strategies that need reliable early fixing. Legacy and Vintage have access to Taiga, which makes Copperline Gorge largely redundant at those tables.

Price Context
Current price
$0.42 bulk tier
At $0.42, Copperline Gorge is bulk — a functionally strong land priced as though it were a common, which makes it one of the easiest automatic includes in any Gruul Commander build. Bulk rares with consistent demand tend to stay cheap unless a reprint gets cut, so don't expect this to spike, but also don't wait on picking up copies.
