In Pauper, Cartouche of Knowledge earns genuine consideration in Aura-based aggressive shells, where the built-in card draw keeps your hand from emptying after suiting up a hexproof threat. Pioneer and Modern have more efficient cantripping Auras competing for the same slot, so Cartouche of Knowledge mostly gets outclassed there. In Commander, it lives almost exclusively in enchantress or dedicated Aura-tribal strategies — the flying is relevant but not format-warping, and a single card draw on a 99-card singleton engine rarely justifies the slot unless your commander directly rewards enchantments entering. Legacy and Vintage are too fast for it to matter.
