Calix, Guided by Fate card art
Calix, Guided by Fate turns every enchantment trigger into a free copy, snowballing board state faster than most enchantress decks can answer — the engine is real. The cost is context: outside dedicated enchantment shells, he's a three-mana 2/2 that does nothing, so Three Blind Mice and Yuna, Hope of Spira lists want him badly, and everyone else can skip him.

Best Commanders

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Yuna, Hope of Spira

Yuna, Hope of Spira

57.8% of decks · synergy 0.52

Yuna, Hope of Spira constantly reattaches and recurs enchantments, which feeds Calix, Guided by Fate's constellation trigger on a loop — the two create a self-reinforcing copy engine that rapidly floods the board.

02
Anikthea, Hand of Erebos

Anikthea, Hand of Erebos

46.4% of decks · synergy 0.43

Anikthea, Hand of Erebos animates enchantments in the graveyard as creature tokens, and each new enchantment hitting the battlefield procs Calix, Guided by Fate, meaning Anikthea's recursion directly accelerates Calix's copy output.

03
Yenna, Redtooth Regent

Yenna, Redtooth Regent

48.0% of decks · synergy 0.42

Yenna, Redtooth Regent copies auras and enchantments at untap, and each copy she generates triggers Calix, Guided by Fate again — the two commanders create a compounding loop where one copy begets the next.

04
Gylwain, Casting Director

Gylwain, Casting Director

43.4% of decks · synergy 0.37

Gylwain, Casting Director staples a Role token onto every creature that enters, and since Roles are enchantments, every creature drop is also a Calix, Guided by Fate trigger waiting to happen.

05
Sigurd, Jarl of Ravensthorpe

Sigurd, Jarl of Ravensthorpe

33.4% of decks · synergy 0.32

Sigurd, Jarl of Ravensthorpe rewards attacking with aura-attached creatures, which incentivizes the same enchantment-stacking gameplan that makes Calix, Guided by Fate's copy ability most explosive.

Commander is the obvious home for Calix, Guided by Fate — the longer the game goes, the more copies accumulate, and multiplayer gives you the time to build the constellation engine up to critical mass. In Pioneer and Modern, a three-mana enchantment payoff without immediate board impact is too slow for competitive lists, though fringe enchantress brews in those formats have given him a look. Legacy and Vintage are legal but irrelevant; no enchantment shell there needs what Calix does at that mana cost when faster options exist. Oathbreaker is worth noting as a secondary sweet spot, since the shorter game clock is offset by running him as the oathbreaker himself with an enchantment-based signature spell.
