Bushwhack gives your whole team +1/+0 and trample until end of turn for a single red mana — that's a combat trick that punches well above its cost. In any deck that wins through creature damage, especially one running Maarika, Brutal Gladiator, this is the kind of one-mana finishing tool that turns a stalled board into a lethal swing.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Maarika, Brutal Gladiator
Maarika, Brutal Gladiator wants to connect and deal damage to trigger her fight ability, and Bushwhack's trample grant ensures that even chump blockers don't stop the train — the damage punches through and fires the trigger.

Neyith of the Dire Hunt
Neyith of the Dire Hunt rewards creatures winning fights and dealing combat damage, and Bushwhack's trample makes it significantly harder for opponents to throw a body in front of a big attacker to absorb the hit clean.

Riku of Many Paths
Riku of Many Paths can copy instants, so Bushwhack becomes two team-wide trample grants for two mana — a trivial investment that turns a full board into a near-unanswerable alpha strike.

Legolas, Master Archer
Legolas, Master Archer cares about dealing damage with creatures, and Bushwhack ensures that damage actually lands by running it through whatever blockers opponents throw in the way.

Shelob, Child of Ungoliant
Shelob, Child of Ungoliant generates value when her creatures deal combat damage, and Bushwhack's trample makes it far harder for opponents to neutralize that plan with a single token or utility creature.

In Commander, Bushwhack is a finisher in disguise — one mana to give a full board trample and a modest power boost is exactly the kind of effect go-wide and voltron-adjacent decks want when they're ready to close. Competitive non-Commander formats are largely indifferent to it; Modern, Pioneer, and Legacy have faster, more powerful ways to end games than a one-shot anthem effect. Pauper is the one 60-card format worth a second look, since a common one-mana trample enabler fits into aggressive green and red strategies that lack evasion. Standard legality is technically relevant, but the effect hasn't carved out a slot there either. This is primarily a Commander card.

$0.22 bulk tier
At $0.22, Bushwhack is firmly bulk — you're not paying a premium for the effect, and there's no reason to expect that to change. Pick it up freely; it will never be a meaningful budget concern.
