Bring to Light tutors any card with converted mana cost 5 or less directly onto the stack — no hand, no graveyard, cast for free — as long as you're casting it with five colors of mana. The payoff is enormous and the cost is real: you need a legitimate five-color mana base or the card is a worse Diabolic Tutor.

Commander is where Bring to Light earns its keep — five-color decks like Jodah, Archmage Eternal or Najeela, the Blade-Blossom trivially hit all five colors, and fetching any spell with CMC 5 or less directly onto the stack is a game-changing tutor effect at instant-equivalent timing. Outside five-color shells, the card taxes itself hard: four- or three-color decks may only exile and cast cards matching the colors spent, which shrinks the target pool dramatically. In Modern it saw fringe play in Scapeshift piles and Amulet Titan as a toolbox piece, but faster formats have largely left it behind. Pioneer and Legacy have better options at this price point and mana investment. Oathbreaker mirrors Commander's logic — five-color oathbreakers unlock the full effect, narrower color identities do not.

Price Context
Current price
$0.29 bulk tier
At $0.29, Bring to Light is deep bulk — a card with genuine tutor power available for virtually nothing. The price reflects how narrowly it performs outside five-color lists, so if you're building a deck that actually wants it, there's no reason not to pick up a copy immediately.
