Scapeshift card art
Scapeshift sacrifices all your lands and replaces them with any lands from your library — at sorcery speed, for four mana, at instant impact. With Maze's End it assembles a gates win-condition in one motion; with Titania, Protector of Argoth it generates a lethal board of 5/3 Elemental tokens from every land that hit the graveyard.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Titania, Protector of Argoth

Titania, Protector of Argoth

63.2% of decks · synergy 0.57

Scapeshift is the centerpiece of Titania, Protector of Argoth decks — sacrificing a full board of lands triggers Titania once per land that entered the graveyard this way, producing a swarm of 5/3 Elementals in a single cast.

02
Lumra, Bellow of the Woods

Lumra, Bellow of the Woods

50.1% of decks · synergy 0.44

Lumra, Bellow of the Woods cares about lands entering the battlefield, so Scapeshift dropping an entire library's worth of basics at once triggers a cascade of Lumra's mill-and-return ability that few other cards can match.

03
Lord Windgrace

Lord Windgrace

49.9% of decks · synergy 0.43

Lord Windgrace wants lands in the graveyard to recur and wants them entering the battlefield to press advantage — Scapeshift delivers both halves simultaneously, refueling the graveyard engine while triggering any enter-the-battlefield effects on the new lands.

04
Hazezon, Shaper of Sand

Hazezon, Shaper of Sand

42.0% of decks · synergy 0.39

Hazezon, Shaper of Sand creates Desert tokens equal to the number of Deserts you control, so Scapeshift fetching a critical mass of Desert lands in one shot sets up a token explosion the moment Hazezon's trigger resolves.

05
Tannuk, Memorial Ensign

Tannuk, Memorial Ensign

38.2% of decks · synergy 0.35

Tannuk, Memorial Ensign rewards redundant land types entering the battlefield, and Scapeshift's ability to pull the exact combination of land types needed in a single action makes it a reliable engine piece rather than an incremental tool.

In Commander, Scapeshift is one of the few cards that can end a game or generate overwhelming board presence at instant impact without requiring a dedicated combo shell — it fits anywhere lands matter. In Modern, Scapeshift historically powered Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle combo decks, using ramp to hit seven lands and then swapping them all for Mountains to deal lethal damage; that archetype remains viable. Pioneer offers a similar Valakut shell with a smaller card pool, making Scapeshift a cornerstone of the strategy there rather than one option among many. Legacy has access to faster combo and disruption that outpaces a four-mana sorcery, so Scapeshift sees only fringe play in that format.
