In Commander, Brace for Impact earns its slot in go-wide token strategies where one sweeper timed to combat would otherwise end the game — Elspeth, Sun's Champion and Krenko, Mob Boss players are the natural homes. Outside Commander, the card is legal in Legacy, Vintage, and Modern, but those formats have no interest in a five-mana combat trick when cheaper, more flexible protection exists. Stick to Commander, and even there it's competing hard against Heroic Intervention and Teferi's Protection.
