Badgermole turns every land you control into a creature — a game-warping effect that floods combat math and feeds landfall loops without spending your land drops. The cost is a six-mana sorcery with no immediate protection, which means Ashaya, Soul of the Wild and Toph, Earthbending Master shells get the most mileage by going wide before the spell resolves.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Toph, Earthbending Master
Toph, Earthbending Master is the definitive Badgermole commander — she taps lands as creatures for mana and combat, so animating every land at once is the engine, not a side effect.

Bumi, Unleashed
Bumi, Unleashed rewards chaotic board states and big splashy permanents, and Badgermole delivering a sudden army of land-creatures fits squarely in that gameplan.

Toph, the First Metalbender
Toph, the First Metalbender cares about tapping and untapping permanents, and Badgermole converts the entire land base into tap targets she can exploit for value.

Toph, Hardheaded Teacher
Toph, Hardheaded Teacher leverages creature count for power and toughness bonuses, so Badgermole's land animation inflates that count dramatically at a single cast.
Avatar Aang
Avatar Aang runs multiple element-themed synergies, and Badgermole slots in as an earthbending payoff that doubles as a combat finisher.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Badgermole is legal everywhere, but Commander is where it actually earns a slot. In a 100-card singleton format with a commander that cares about lands as creatures, the card can single-handedly close games — nowhere else does a six-mana sorcery with that effect hit a critical mass of lands reliably. In competitive constructed formats like Modern and Pioneer, six mana is too slow for the effect you get, and the creature tokens don't persist past the turn unless you have a continuous animator, making it irrelevant in those queues. Pauper has access to it on paper, but the same cost ceiling applies. Treat Badgermole as a Commander-exclusive piece and you'll never be disappointed by it.

$0.14 bulk tier
At $0.14, Badgermole is deep bulk — you're paying almost nothing for a card with a 67% inclusion rate in its best home. That price is unlikely to move much given the card's narrow applicable formats, so pick up copies freely without worrying about timing.
