In Commander, Assert Authority is a niche include that earns its slot in spell-matters builds where the Phyrexian token is a meaningful payoff, not an afterthought. In Legacy and Vintage, five mana is disqualifying — those formats have Counterspell and Force of Will, and no one is casting a five-drop counter in any serious context. Modern could theoretically house it, but Cryptic Command and Archmage's Charm exist at four mana with more flexibility, so Assert Authority has no real path there either. Its home is Commander and nothing else.
