Assassin Den card art
Assassin Den turns your land drop into a repeatable removal engine — tap five lands, exile a creature, and put a 1/1 Assassin token into play. The cost is steep enough that Berta, Wise Extrapolator and other untap-heavy commanders are the realistic home for it; in a normal green-black shell, you'll rarely fire it more than once per turn cycle.

Format Analysis

Assassin Den is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but its five-land activation cost makes it a Commander card in practice. Legacy and Vintage move too fast for a land that asks you to tap five permanents at sorcery speed, and Modern's tempo demands mean you'd rather have a spell that costs two mana and does the same job. In Commander, the math changes — you have 40 life, multiple opponents, and the kind of board stall where an exile effect stapled to a land looks genuinely attractive.

Price Context

Current price

$0.16 bulk tier

At $0.16, Assassin Den is deep bulk — grab a copy anytime you see it in a dollar box. Bulk rares with narrow activation costs rarely climb, so treat it as a free slot filler rather than a pickup with upside.
