Akroma's Will card art
Akroma's Will ends combat immediately — double strike, flying, lifelink, vigilance, and protection from all colors on every creature you control for four mana is a game-ending alpha strike or a total blowout against removal. It's one of the most efficient finishers in Commander, and the fact that you can cast it as a pure protection spell in a pinch makes it pull double duty.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Pantlaza, Sun-Favored

Pantlaza, Sun-Favored

68.5% of decks · synergy 0.49

Pantlaza, Sun-Favored triggers discover on every dinosaur entering, and a board of large dinosaurs turned into flying, double-striking lifelinkers by Akroma's Will ends games the moment combat is declared — the protection clause also blankets the whole board against the spot removal players will desperately reach for.

02
Satya, Aetherflux Genius

Satya, Aetherflux Genius

60.9% of decks · synergy 0.49

Satya, Aetherflux Genius generates a wide board of token copies with haste, and Akroma's Will turns that temporary army lethal before the tokens exile at end of turn — every keyword stacks with the already-hasty copies for a one-shot swing nobody sees coming.

03
The Destined Warrior

The Destined Warrior

36.3% of decks · synergy 0.30

The Destined Warrior wants to connect with combat damage repeatedly, and Akroma's Will grants flying and protection from all colors to punch through any blocker or removal response while double strike piles on the triggers.

04
G'raha Tia, Scion Reborn

G'raha Tia, Scion Reborn

35.2% of decks · synergy 0.29

G'raha Tia, Scion Reborn rebuilds a board from the graveyard, and Akroma's Will converts that recovered army into an untouchable, evasion-loaded strike force that closes the game before opponents can answer it a second time.

05
Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir

Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir

34.1% of decks · synergy 0.28

Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir cares about first strike, and Akroma's Will upgrades that to double strike across the board while adding flying and protection — a combination that makes even modest Knights hit for lethal through virtually any defensive setup.

Commander is where Akroma's Will was designed to live, and it shows — four mana for a combat-ending instant that also functions as a counterspell-proof protection spell is exactly the kind of haymaker that closes multiplayer games. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but you'll never see it outside of casual mana-intensive brews; the formats move too fast for a four-mana sorcery-speed effect with no immediate board presence. Oathbreaker shares enough of Commander's wide-board, combat-focused DNA that Akroma's Will performs similarly there, especially in white or Boros shells with an aggressive signature spell.

Budget Alternatives

Cheaper options that do most of the same work

Unbreakable Formation hits the same protection-plus-keywords space at roughly $0.50, though it tops out at vigilance and indestructible rather than the full keyword suite that makes Akroma's Will so lethal. Inspired Charge and similar pump spells can fill the role in a pinch, but none of them offer the protection clause that makes Akroma's Will double as a board-save against mass removal — that versatility is what separates it from budget substitutes.

Price Context

Current price

$14.66 mid tier

At $14.66, Akroma's Will sits firmly in the mid tier, and for a card that appears in over 150,000 Commander decks and does this much work, that's a fair ask. It's not going to get cheaper — widespread demand and no recent reprint keep the floor elevated — so if it's on your list, buy it now rather than waiting.
