Monk Gyatso's airbending trigger fires whenever a creature is targeted by an equip ability, exiling Priest of Urabrask before Lightning Greaves resolves and causing it to fizzle. Priest of Urabrask then comes back down for 2 generic, immediately producing 3 red mana and netting positive each loop. Red-white storm and Monk Gyatso spellslinger builds are the natural home — the engine runs at sorcery speed but asks nothing of the graveyard.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

02

Steps

  1. Activate Lightning Greaves's equip ability by paying {0}, targeting Priest of Urabrask.
  2. Monk Gyatso triggers, airbending Priest of Urabrask.
  3. The Lightning Greaves ability fizzles due to no longer having a legal target.
  4. Cast Priest of Urabrask from exile by paying {2}.
  5. When Priest of Urabrask enters, it triggers, adding {R}{R}{R}.
  6. Repeat.

03

Result

Infinite LTB; Infinite ETB; Infinite storm count; Infinite red mana

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

The loop needs a mana sink or payoff to close — Reckless Fireweaver or Purphoros, God of the Forge converts each Priest of Urabrask ETB into damage without touching the mana. Any equipment with a free or reducible equip cost that can retrigger Monk Gyatso works as a Lightning Greaves substitute, but nothing currently matches the zero-cost reliability; keep Greaves.
