3-card combo · GUR

Verdict

Yes — this 3-card loop converts a single 1-toughness creature and a basic land into infinite draw and a lethal board of hasty Insects.

Earthcraft taps a 1-toughness creature to untap a basic land; that land pays Skullclamp's equip cost, the equipped creature immediately dies at zero toughness, and The Locust God replaces the two cards drawn with two fresh 1/1 Insects to feed the next iteration. The loop asks nothing exotic from its shell — any Temur or Simic list running The Locust God already wants Skullclamp for value, and Earthcraft is a staple in token and creature-dense decks regardless.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

You control a creature whose toughness is equal to one. You control a basic land.

02

Steps

  1. Activate Earthcraft by tapping a creature whose toughness is equal to one, untapping a basic land you control.
  2. Activate the basic land by tapping it, adding {1}.
  3. Activate Skullclamp's equip ability by paying {1}, attaching it to a creature whose toughness is equal to one.
  4. The creature dies as a state-based action due to having zero toughness.
  5. Skullclamp triggers, causing you to draw two cards.
  6. The Locust God triggers twice, creating two 1/1 Insect creature tokens with flying and haste.
  7. Repeat.

03

Result

Infinite card draw; Infinite draw triggers; Near-infinite creature tokens with haste; Near-infinite death triggers; Near-infinite ETB; Near-infinite LTB; Near-infinite mana basic lands you control can produce

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Ashnod's Altar can replace Earthcraft if the mana dependency is the weak link — sacrifice an Insect for two colorless instead of tapping a land. Earthcraft is the most fragile piece here since it needs the basic land in play and eats enchantment removal; in Temur builds, Cryptolith Rite covers similar ground though it requires summoning sickness to clear. The loop ends the game on its own once haste Insects exist — no separate kill required.
