Jan Jansen, Chaos Crafter + Dross Scorpion + Skullclamp + Ashnod's Transmogrant

4-card combo · RWB

Verdict

Yes — this 4-card loop draws the entire library once Jan Jansen becomes an artifact creature and the Skullclamp-Construct death cycle gets rolling.

Ashnod's Transmogrant converts Jan Jansen into an artifact creature so its sacrifice abilities feed Dross Scorpion's untap trigger; from there, Jan Jansen's second ability mints two 1/1 Construct tokens per loop, and equipping Skullclamp to one kills it immediately for two cards while Dross Scorpion resets Jan Jansen to repeat. The combo lives in Mardu artifact-creature shells — Jan Jansen as commander is the natural home, since every piece slots into the broader sacrifice-and-recur gameplan he already wants.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

You control an additional creature.

02

Steps

  1. Activate Ashnod's Transmogrant by tapping and sacrificing it, putting a +1/+1 counter on Jan Jansen and causing it to become an artifact creature.
  2. Activate Jan Jansen's first ability by tapping it and sacrificing another artifact creature.
  3. When the creature dies, Dross Scorpion triggers, untapping Jan Jansen.
  4. Resolve the Jan Jansen ability, creating two Treasure artifact tokens.
  5. Activate Jan Jansen's second ability by tapping it and sacrificing a Treasure token, creating two 1/1 Construct artifact creature tokens.
  6. Activate a Treasure token by tapping and sacrificing it, adding {1}.
  7. Activate Skullclamp's equip ability by paying {1}, attaching it to a Construct token.
  8. The Construct dies as a state-based action due to having zero toughness.Skullclamp and Dross Scorpion trigger.
  9. Resolve the Skullclamp trigger, causing you to draw two cards.
  10. Resolve the Dross Scorpion trigger, untapping Jan Jansen.
  11. Repeat from step 2.

Result

Infinite card draw; Infinite draw triggers; Near-infinite death triggers; Near-infinite ETB; Near-infinite LTB

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Any artifact creature already in play replaces Ashnod's Transmogrant as the initial sacrifice trigger for Dross Scorpion, trimming the setup to three cards if Jan Jansen enters as an artifact creature through another line. Once the library is empty, pair the infinite draw with Thassa's Oracle or Laboratory Maniac — the combo generates cards, not a direct kill.
