Biotransference is the linchpin: it makes Jan Jansen's Construct tokens artifacts, which lets Dross Scorpion untap Jan Jansen on their deaths and keeps every piece feeding back into itself. The loop needs one sacrificial creature to start, converts it into Treasures, converts Treasures into Constructs, equips Skullclamp for one mana, and the 1/1 immediately dies to the -1/-1 penalty — drawing two and restarting the chain. Mardu artifact commanders — Breya, Etherium Shaper, or Alibou, Ancient Witness shells — already run Skullclamp and Jan Jansen, so Dross Scorpion and Biotransference are the asks.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

You control an additional creature.

02

Steps

  1. Activate Jan Jansen's first ability by tapping it and sacrificing another artifact creature.
  2. When the creature dies, Dross Scorpion triggers, untapping Jan Jansen.
  3. Resolve the Jan Jansen ability, creating two Treasure artifact tokens.
  4. Activate Jan Jansen's second ability by tapping it and sacrificing a Treasure token, creating two 1/1 Construct artifact creature tokens.
  5. Activate a Treasure token by tapping and sacrificing it, adding {1}.
  6. Activate Skullclamp's equip ability by paying {1}, attaching it to a Construct token.
  7. The Construct dies as a state-based action due to having zero toughness.
  8. Skullclamp and Dross Scorpion trigger.
  9. Resolve the Skullclamp trigger, causing you to draw two cards.
  10. Resolve the Dross Scorpion trigger, untapping Jan Jansen.
  11. Repeat.

Result

Infinite card draw; Infinite draw triggers; Near-infinite death triggers; Near-infinite ETB; Near-infinite LTB

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Biotransference has no clean substitute here — the Construct tokens must be artifacts for Dross Scorpion to trigger, so that card is load-bearing and cutting it collapses the loop. Once the library is empty, close with Thassa's Oracle, Jace, Wielder of Mysteries, or any damage outlet already in the Mardu artifact shell; the combo draws everything but does not win on its own.
