Displacer Kitten + Frantic Search + Dark Ritual + Zealous Lorecaster

4-card combo · UBR

Verdict

Yes — this 4-card loop generates near-infinite storm count, looting, and black mana out of a Dimir-or-wider shell that already runs cantrip support.

Displacer Kitten blinks Zealous Lorecaster on every instant or sorcery cast; Lorecaster's ETB recurs whichever half of the ritual-search pair just resolved, keeping the loop alive. Dark Ritual floats enough black to pay for Frantic Search, and Frantic Search untaps the blue lands to pay for Dark Ritual next iteration — the two spells leapfrog each other indefinitely.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

You control up to three lands that can tap to produce at least {U}.

02

Steps

  1. Cast Dark Ritual by paying {B}.
  2. Displacer Kitten triggers, blinking Zealous Lorecaster.
  3. When Zealous Lorecaster enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning Frantic Search from your graveyard to your hand.
  4. Resolve Dark Ritual, adding {B}{B}{B}.
  5. Activate up to three lands by tapping them, adding at least {U}.
  6. Cast Frantic Search by paying {2}{B}.
  7. Displacer Kitten triggers, blinking Zealous Lorecaster.
  8. When Zealous Lorecaster enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning Dark Ritual from your graveyard to your hand.
  9. Resolve Frantic Search, causing you to loot twice and untap up to three lands.
  10. Repeat.

03

Result

Infinite draw triggers; Infinite looting; Infinite self-discard triggers; Near-infinite ETB; Near-infinite LTB; Near-infinite black mana; Near-infinite magecraft triggers; Near-infinite mana lands you control can produce; Near-infinite storm count; Near-infinite untap of lands you control

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Turnabout can replace Frantic Search if the untap effect is the priority and the looting is unnecessary — it untaps lands more flexibly but costs more mana to sustain. The loop piles storm and fills the bin but doesn't win unassisted; pair it with Thassa's Oracle, Grapeshot, or Aetherflux Reservoir as the closer, since the kill requires a separate payoff in the 99.
