Displacer Kitten + Frantic Search + Dark Ritual + Donnie & April, Adorkable Duo

4-card combo · UB

Verdict

Yes — this 4-card loop generates near-infinite black mana, infinite looting, and an arbitrarily large storm count through alternating Dark Ritual and Frantic Search casts.

Displacer Kitten blinks Donnie & April on every noncreature spell cast; Donnie & April's enter-the-battlefield trigger returns whichever half of the engine just hit the graveyard. Dark Ritual seeds the black mana to cast Frantic Search, and Frantic Search untaps the blue lands to recast Dark Ritual next loop — the two spells leapfrog each other indefinitely. The combo lives in Dimir spellslinger shells where Displacer Kitten and a graveyard-value commander share the same 99.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

You control up to three lands that can tap to produce at least {U}.

02

Steps

  1. Cast Dark Ritual by paying {B}.
  2. Displacer Kitten triggers, blinking Donnie & April.
  3. When Donnie & April enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning Frantic Search from your graveyard to your hand.
  4. Resolve Dark Ritual, adding {B}{B}{B}.
  5. Activate up to three lands by tapping them, adding at least {U}.
  6. Cast Frantic Search by paying {2}{B}.
  7. Displacer Kitten triggers, blinking Donnie & April.
  8. When Donnie & April enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning Dark Ritual from your graveyard to your hand.
  9. Resolve Frantic Search, causing you to loot twice and untap up to three lands.
  10. Repeat.

03

Result

Infinite self-discard triggers; Near-infinite ETB; Infinite draw triggers; Infinite looting; Near-infinite storm count; Near-infinite LTB; Near-infinite mana lands you control can produce; Near-infinite magecraft triggers; Near-infinite black mana; Near-infinite untap of lands you control

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Snap replaces Frantic Search if the graveyard recursion can be maintained another way — it costs only {1}{U} and still untaps two lands. The loop produces storm count and looting freely but needs a payoff to close; Thassa's Oracle off an emptied library or Grapeshot are the cleanest Dimir finishers once the engine runs.
