Angelic Protector + Crookclaw Transmuter + Lightning Greaves

3-card combo · WU

Verdict

No — this three-card setup requires a wide-open board, a specific flash instant cast at the right moment, and still only kills one opponent.

The line pumps Angelic Protector to an arbitrarily large toughness by bouncing Lightning Greaves between it and another creature, stacking the +0/+3 trigger as many times as needed, then casts Crookclaw Transmuter to swap power and toughness and swing lethal. The prerequisite that an opponent cannot block and kill Angelic Protector is doing enormous work here — any deathtouch blocker, a single removal spell in response, or the target opponent simply having blockers collapses the entire setup before Crookclaw Transmuter resolves.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

You control at least one additional creature. An opponent is unable to block and kill Angelic Protector.

02

Steps

  1. Activate Lightning Greaves' equip ability by paying {0}, targeting Angelic Protector.
  2. Angelic Protector triggers, giving itself +0/+3 until end of turn.
  3. Resolve the Lightning Greaves ability, attaching it to Angelic Protector.
  4. Activate Lightning Greaves' equip ability by paying {0}, attaching it to another creature you control.
  5. Repeat an arbitrarily large number of times.
  6. Cast Crookclaw Transmuter by paying {3}{U}.
  7. Crookclaw Transmuter enters the battlefield, switching Angelic Protector's power and toughness until end of turn.
  8. Deal combat damage to an opponent with Angelic Protector, causing the opponent to lose the game due to having zero or less life.

03

Result

Infinite combat damage to one opponent; Infinitely powerful creature until end of turn

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Boros Charm or a single-mana protection spell like Slip Out the Back can patch the vulnerability to removal during the combat step, but that adds a fourth piece to an already narrow line. Angelic Protector finds a more reliable home in a dedicated flicker or aura shell; if the goal is a one-shot kill in Azorius, Thassa's Oracle over a near-empty library or a Sword of Feast and Famine loop demands far fewer prerequisite hoops.
