Zhulodok, Void Gorger

Legendary Creature — Eldrazi

Colorless spells you cast from your hand with mana value 7 or greater have "Cascade, cascade." (When you cast one, exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a nonland card that costs less. You may cast it without paying its mana cost. Put the exiled cards on the bottom in a random order. Then do it again.)

Zhulodok, Void Gorger card art
Zhulodok, Void Gorger turns every colorless spell with mana value 7 or greater into two spells — the cascade triggers stack immediately and hit deep into any Eldrazi-heavy library. Seven mana for a 7/4 with annihilator 2 is already a threat; the free cascade on each oversized colorless spell is what makes it a build-around rather than just a body. Ulalek, Fused Atrocity players have made it the de facto engine piece, but it earns its slot in any deck that regularly casts Eldrazi at the top of the curve.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Ulalek, Fused Atrocity

Ulalek, Fused Atrocity

49.0% of decks · synergy 0.46

Ulalek, Fused Atrocity copies every triggered ability from Eldrazi you control, which means Zhulodok, Void Gorger's cascade triggers get copied whenever another Eldrazi enters or attacks — the combination chains into multiple free spells off a single cast and is the primary reason nearly half of all Ulalek decks run Zhulodok.

02
Ultima, Origin of Oblivion

Ultima, Origin of Oblivion

53.0% of decks · synergy 0.39

Ultima, Origin of Oblivion cheats huge Eldrazi into play repeatedly, and Zhulodok, Void Gorger ensures every hard-cast oversized colorless spell in the same turn generates two additional free hits — the two together compress the number of resources needed to flood the board.

03
Kozilek, the Great Distortion

Kozilek, the Great Distortion

45.9% of decks · synergy 0.32

Kozilek, the Great Distortion refills the hand and demands colorless mana investment, and Zhulodok, Void Gorger rewards that investment by cascading off each expensive colorless spell — the two commanders effectively guarantee that every high-cost cast generates card advantage on multiple axes simultaneously.

04
Herigast, Erupting Nullkite

Herigast, Erupting Nullkite

24.7% of decks · synergy 0.24

Herigast, Erupting Nullkite reduces the cost of the first Eldrazi cast each turn, which lets Zhulodok, Void Gorger's cascade triggers fire earlier and more reliably than in a slower shell — together they collapse the mana ceiling on the entire top end of the curve.

05
Kruphix, God of Horizons

Kruphix, God of Horizons

14.2% of decks · synergy 0.14

Kruphix, God of Horizons banks unused mana across turns, making the seven-mana threshold for Zhulodok, Void Gorger trivially reachable by the mid-game and allowing the deck to chain multiple large colorless spells in a single turn once the reserves are deep enough.

FormatVerdict

oathbreaker

Commander is the natural home for Zhulodok, Void Gorger — the 100-card singleton format gives it a deep library to cascade through, and the slower pace of multiplayer games means seven mana is a realistic investment rather than a pipe dream. In Legacy and Vintage, where it is technically legal, the card sees no competitive play: seven mana is an eternity in those formats, and the cascade payoff doesn't offset the cost when faster threats exist at a fraction of the price. Oathbreaker is legal but the 60-card format and tighter curve expectations make Zhulodok a fringe inclusion at best. Treat it as a Commander card — that's the only context where it's genuinely good.

Current pricing data for Zhulodok, Void Gorger isn't available in this snapshot, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for the live number before buying. Given its near-50% inclusion rate in Ulalek, Fused Atrocity decks and strong synergy across multiple Eldrazi commanders, demand is real — if the price looks low relative to its play rate, that's the window to pick one up.
