Yavimaya Steelcrusher card art
Yavimaya Steelcrusher hits an artifact or enchantment on the way out — the removal is stapled to a creature that was already doing work. The cost is the body itself: a 2/2 for two that trades down in combat, so decks running it want the enters-the-battlefield trigger enough to not care about the creature sticking around, and Kibo, Uktabi Prince does exactly that by turning artifacts into food for the whole table.

Best Commanders

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Kibo, Uktabi Prince

Kibo, Uktabi Prince

71.7% of decks · synergy 0.69

Kibo, Uktabi Prince generates Banana tokens — artifacts — for every opponent, which means the table is constantly stocked with targets for Yavimaya Steelcrusher's trigger; bounce and replay loops let you hit an artifact every single turn while Kibo keeps the supply coming.

02
Gornog, the Red Reaper

Gornog, the Red Reaper

15.0% of decks · synergy 0.15

Gornog, the Red Reaper wants creatures dying, and Yavimaya Steelcrusher is a cheap body that invites trades or sacrifice; the incidental artifact removal is gravy in a deck that already wants the creature cycling through the graveyard.

In Commander, Yavimaya Steelcrusher earns its slot specifically in decks that can recur or bounce it — one-shot ETB removal on a vanilla 2/2 is not enough to run in a vacuum at this power level. Pauper is where it competes most cleanly: artifact removal on a green creature body is genuinely useful in a format where Affinity and artifact synergies show up regularly, and the common slot is not oversaturated with better options. In Modern, Pioneer, and Legacy it has no realistic home — those formats have access to strictly better artifact removal that doesn't require a creature slot. Oathbreaker follows the same logic as Commander: run it if your spellbreaker enables loops, skip it otherwise.

Price Context

Current price

$0.32 bulk tier

At $0.32, Yavimaya Steelcrusher is bulk — you're not paying for the card, you're paying for the sleeve. It won't appreciate; demand is narrow enough that the price stays flat unless a new commander with heavy artifact-bounce synergy breaks out.
