Yavimaya's Embrace steals a creature and pumps it — permanent, unconditional, no sacrifice clause — but nine mana is the whole conversation. At that cost, you need a way to cheat it into play or a game state where nine mana is routine, and in Commander that bar is clearable enough to run it in the right shell.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Yavimaya's Embrace is a Commander card through and through — the format's slower clock and ramp infrastructure are what make a nine-mana aura even worth discussing. In Legacy and Vintage, where it's technically legal, no one casts it; the format's speed makes nine mana a joke. Commander is where you find the decks with enough green ramp or cost-reduction effects to land it on curve, and the political upside of permanently stealing the scariest thing on the board carries real weight in a multiplayer game.

Price Context
Current price
$0.11 bulk tier
At $0.11, Yavimaya's Embrace is deep bulk — you'll find it in a dollar box before you'll find it on a vendor's radar. Bulk rares at this price point don't move unless a deck archetype breaks out around them, and nothing on the horizon makes that likely here.
