Wurmweaver Coil puts a 6/6 Wurm token into play — that's the point — but six mana for a single token with no built-in protection is a steep ask in most formats. In Baru, Wurmspeaker specifically, that cost becomes negotiable because Baru reduces it to effectively free when you're already casting green spells and doubling every Wurm you produce.

Wurmweaver Coil is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but competitive Legacy and Modern have no interest in a six-mana token generator that doesn't immediately win the game.
