Wrath of Marit Lage taps all red creatures — a permanent, on-board soft lock that shuts down most aggro and combat-centric red decks for as long as it stays in play. The catch is the setup cost: without Painter's Servant or a way to make everything red, the effect is narrow enough that most tables will never feel it.

In Commander, Wrath of Marit Lage occupies a very specific niche: it's a hate piece against red-heavy pods, and it does real work in metas full of Krenko, Mob Boss or Purphoros, God of the Forge decks. Outside of dedicated blue-snow builds that can reliably turn on the tapping engine, it's a sideboard card masquerading as a mainboard one. Legacy and Vintage have the Painter's Servant combo to make Wrath of Marit Lage a true lock piece, but those formats have faster, more consistent answers. It sees essentially no competitive play in any format today.

Price data for Wrath of Marit Lage isn't currently available, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for the most recent figures — it's an older card with low demand that tends to sit in bulk-rare territory. Unless you're specifically building a Painter's Servant lock package, there's no urgency to acquire it.
