Worm Harvest can flood the board with 1/1 Worm tokens at instant speed for as little as one mana — the retrace cost scales with how deep your graveyard is, and a well-stocked yard can produce five or six bodies in a single activation. The catch is that you need lands in the graveyard, not just cards, which pushes it firmly into landfall and self-mill shells where Turntimber Sower and Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis already want to live.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis
Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis wants as many creatures in the graveyard and on the battlefield as possible, and Worm Harvest delivers both — each retrace activation discards a land, fueling convoke and delve while adding bodies that pay Hogaak's alternate cost.

Lord Windgrace
Lord Windgrace recurs lands from the graveyard and pitches them with discard effects, which means Worm Harvest's retrace fuel is always replenishing — cast it once, get tokens, rebuy the lands with Windgrace's plus ability, and cast it again.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is the natural home for Worm Harvest — long games, high land counts, and graveyard-centric strategies all make retrace genuinely repeatable rather than a one-shot effect. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but essentially unplayed; the format speed means spending mana and a land for 1/1s is rarely competitive unless you're deep in a dedicated Worm Harvest engine. Modern access exists on paper, but the same problem applies — the card generates incremental value rather than the explosive or disruptive effects those formats demand. Stick to Commander, where the card's ceiling is legitimately high in the right shell.

$0.27 bulk tier
At $0.27, Worm Harvest is bulk — easy to pick up as a throw-in or dirt-cheap single. Its niche demand keeps it there; enough Commander players want it for landfall and Hogaak builds to ensure copies stay in circulation, but it'll never escape bulk pricing.
