Turntimber Sower card art
Turntimber Sower turns every land that hits your graveyard into a 0/1 Plant token, which means land-sacrifice loops and self-mill strategies get a free token engine stapled to a three-mana body. The cost is real — three mana for a 3/3 with no immediate impact is a liability if your lands aren't already cycling through the yard — but in the right shell, particularly Worm Harvest decks and Kirri, Talented Sprout landfall lists, it pays off fast.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Kirri, Talented Sprout

Kirri, Talented Sprout

49.5% of decks · synergy 0.48

Kirri, Talented Sprout triggers off every land entering the battlefield, and Turntimber Sower supplies a steady stream of Plant tokens to crew that engine whenever lands cycle through the graveyard — nearly half of all Kirri decks run it for exactly this reason.

02
Yuma, Proud Protector

Yuma, Proud Protector

46.7% of decks · synergy 0.45

Yuma, Proud Protector mills lands into the graveyard as a core mechanic, and Turntimber Sower converts every one of those milled lands into a token before Yuma can crack them for encore value.

03
Six

Six

34.4% of decks · synergy 0.34

Six rewards you for playing lands from unconventional zones, and Turntimber Sower ensures that any land routed through the graveyard first still generates a body — plugging a token-production angle into the same resource loop.

04
Borborygmos Enraged

Borborygmos Enraged

17.7% of decks · synergy 0.17

Borborygmos Enraged pitches lands from hand as a damage source, and Turntimber Sower watches the graveyard fill up and converts each discarded land into a 0/1 blocker or sacrifice fodder, softening the resource cost of the discard engine.

05
Soul of Windgrace

Soul of Windgrace

12.2% of decks · synergy 0.11

Soul of Windgrace repeatedly discards and recurs lands, and Turntimber Sower tags each land on the way to the graveyard for a free token — turning the discard half of that cycle into incremental board presence.

Commander is where Turntimber Sower lives. Landfall and lands-matter strategies are a Commander staple archetype, and the 100-card singleton format gives you enough redundancy to reliably fill the graveyard with lands before Turntimber Sower becomes embarrassing. Legacy and Vintage legality is technically correct, but no competitive deck in either format is interested in a three-mana 3/3 whose payoff requires a graveyard full of lands. Oathbreaker is the one non-Commander 60-card-adjacent format where it could slot into a lands-focused signature spell shell, but the card is essentially Commander-only in practice.

Price Context

Current price

$0.54 bulk tier

At $0.54, Turntimber Sower is deep bulk — you're paying almost nothing for a card that pulls its weight in the right shell. Bulk rares with narrow but genuine Commander homes tend to stay in this range indefinitely, so there's no urgency either way.
